Two jump outs at Ballarat on Tuesday morning for juveniles preparing for the annual Magic Millions Clockwise Classic at Ballarat in November were both won by youngsters sired by Newgate Farm’s young gun Winning Rupert.
The Mick Price and Mick Kent Jr trained colt Prince Amongst Men jumped quickly from the inside to hold the fence and surged clear down the running to win his 800m heat by three lengths in 49.12 seconds.
A $110,000 Magic Millions purchase for Mick Price Racing, Prince Amongst Men is a half-brother to stakes-winner Zoutenant from good producing stakes-winner Tenant’s Tiara, who has left five winners.
The second heat was won by the Matt Laurie trained colt Ranveer, who jumped fast from an outside gate to cross and lead and kept going to the line to win by three lengths in 48.6 seconds.
A $200,000 Magic Millions Perth purchase for his trainer from the Western Breeders Alliance draft, Ranveer was the second highest priced horse sold at that sale.
He is the second foal of Bitter Twist, a half-sister by California Dane to stakes-winner Hoegaarden from the family of eight-time Group I winner Intergaze.
A brilliant record breaking son of Written Tycoon, Winning Rupert stands at Newgate Farm at a fee of $16,500.
