Belardo Making His Presence Felt in Both Hemispheres

Media Release - Tuesday August 4

With just two more days until he arrives on farm, Haunui’s exciting young sire BELARDO (IRE) (Lope De Vega) is making his presence felt in both hemispheres.

The final day of the Goodwood carnival saw Belardo land his sixth first crop winner to date and after five filly winners, he got the monkey of his back with his first colt to salute the judge.

Lining up for his second start, TITAN ROCK ran out an impressive winner over 7f and in the process, claimed a Tattersall’s Bonus for his connections.  You can watch the replay here.

And in the southern hemisphere, Belardo’s sole representative at the Magic Millions June Yearling sale, fetched $100,000 to the bid of renowned Bloodstock Agent, John Foote.

Out of a Showcasing half-sister to G1 winner PERFECT FIT, there was good word on the sale ground about the colt and this was evident in the sale ring with solid competition and a nice six figure result.

Haunui Farm’s Managing Director, Mark Chitty says, “Belardo has certainly made a great start up north and to get a result like that yesterday was very pleasing.  We have had some nice word from trainers here in New Zealand and Australia about his first crop so, we will look forward to seeing them hit the tracks in due course.”

Belardo is set to arrive at Haunui on Thursday for his fourth southern hemisphere season where he will stand for a fee of $10,000 + GST.
