Queen Sweeper Makes it Six for Rich Enuff

Mark Smith - Saturday June 27

Placed in three of her five starts, Queen Sweeper was beaten less than a length when fifth at her most recent run in the Listed Dalrello Stakes at Eagle Farm, which proved the perfect springboard for her maiden win over 1100 metres at Doomben on Saturday to become the sixth first-crop winner for Woodside Park Stud’s Rich Enuff.

Queen Sweeper (Racing QLD)

Given the run of the race, one out one back, by Dale Smith, Queen Sweeper peeled out to the centre of the track in the straight to win by three-quarters of a length from Real Fine Wine (Real Saga) with the favourite One Shy Ruby (Rubick) a short-neck back in third.

Trainer Stuart Kendrick said it was a just reward for the filly’s consistency.

"She's a filly we've got a lot of time for. Like a lot of two-year-olds it's just taken her a while to put it all together, even after today there's plenty to work on, but it was a pleasing performance," Kendrick said.

"Dale Smith has been great coming up and doing plenty of work with her, it always helps to have that rapport with a rider and that's helped her progress.

"I thought she had the race won last start but just felt the pinch at the end of the 1200, back to 1100 today was right up her alley and she hit the line strong."

"She's still a bit of a big kid but getting a win as a two-year-old is great for all involved and we're pretty confident she'll really flourish as a three-year-old."

Rich Enuff

A homebred for the Cutts family’s Showtime Breeding, Queen Sweeper is the sixth winner from seven to race out of the grand producer Zilzie who died in March.

Her only non-winner is the 3yo Zoustar filly Zoofari who has been runner-up in her two starts at the Sunshine Coast.

A dual Group III winning daughter of Generous (IRE), Zizie is the dam of the stakes-placegetters Banda Spice and Orient Line who are both by Show a Heart who carried the Cutts family colours to victory in four Group 1s.

Not surprisingly Zilzie had been a regular visitor to Show a Heart.

Her final two foals are a yearling colt and a weanling colt by the son of Brace Warrior.

Rich Enuff was also represented on the day by the 2yo filly Diamonds who improved on he debut fourth at Morphettville to finish second behind the odds-on favourite Theresabearinthere over 1000 metres at Morphettville Parks.

The son of Written Tycoon will stand at Woodside Park Stud in 2020 at a fee of $8,800.
