New Stakes-Winner for Hermitage Thoroughbreds

Tara Madgwick - Saturday May 30

The Hermitage Thoroughbreds colours have been carried by recent Group I winners The Autumn Sun and Egg Tart with talented Exceed and Excel filly September Run bringing her owners further success when taking out the Listed BRC Bill Carter Stakes (1110m) at Doomben on Saturday.

Fourth at her second start in the Group III ATC Widden Stakes behind Away Game back in February, the Chris Waller trained September Run resumed from a spell to win at Canterbury on May 6 and kept up the good work here.

She raced forward for Michael Cahill and was strong to the line, scoring by half a neck win over fast finishing Rich Enuff filly Plutocrat.

A $380,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Hermitage Thoroughbreds from the Blue Gum Farm draft, September Run has two wins from four starts with prizemoney just shy of $90,000.

“She’ll stay up here now and have a spell as they thrive in the sunshine and then she can get ready for the spring,” said stable representative Paul Shailer.

September Run as a yearling

Bred by Alpara Lodge, September Run is the first foal of Group III winning Street Cry (IRE) mare Pittsburgh Flyer, a daughter of South African Group II winner  and Champion 2YO Filly Warning Zone (SAF).

Pittsburgh Flyer was on-sold at the 2018 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale where she was purchased for $500,000 by Go Bloodstock/ Paul Moroney Bloodstock when in foal to American Pharoah (USA).

The filly resulting from that mating made $100,000 at the recent Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale and Pittsburgh Flyer is now in foal to Merchant Navy.

September Run is the 170th stakes-winner worldwide for Exceed and excel, who stands at Darley this spring at a fee of $132,000.
