Pierro already has a Hong Kong Derby winner in Furore on his resume and hopefully will have another with news his dual Group I winning three year-old Shadow Hero has been sold to Hong Kong and will be trained by David Hayes.
The Mark Newnham trained Shadow Hero has won over $1.5million in prizemoney here with highlight wins in the Group I ATC Spring Champion Stakes and ATC Randwick Guineas.
The sale was confirmed on Monday evening for a reported sum of $3.2million, a great result for a horse bought from the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale by his owners Sweetbriar Equine for $260,000.
His departure adds to the loss of other high class three year-olds from Australian racing with the likes of Castelvecchio, Microphone, Exceedance, Yes Yes Yes, Alabama Express and Super Seth all retiring to the breeding barn.
