Blue Ribbon Stockfeeds was founded in 2010 by Andrew and Liz Childes. Our vision is not to be the biggest producer of stock feed but to concentrate on customer support and helping our clients develop their business. We feel this has been sacrificed for production by the larger corporate company’s. Blue Ribbon Stockfeeds is a family owned company that prides itself on being 100% Australian owned using Australian grown products in all their feeds.
Blue Ribbon Stockfeeds purchased the Rockhampton feed mill mid-way through 2010. After a major upgrade of the mill, we are now able to produce a quality product whether it is as a bagged feed (palletised and mash) for the retail industry or a bulk service to the larger livestock producers. By including steam-flaked grains in our products we can achieve better quality products that cannot be matched by many other feed mills. We feel that with your help we can provide a service not yet seen in this industry.
Andrew Childes, Nutritional Advisor and Managing Director of Blue Ribbon Stockfeeds, knows the rural industry. He spent his childhood on a dairy farm outside Oakey, west of Toowoomba, finding out firsthand the effects nutrition has on milk production. During the time spent on the Dairy Andrew completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Animal Production (majoring in Animal Nutrition and Genetics) through UQ in Gatton
After the deregulation of the dairy industry which forced most small produces out, Andrew commenced work for Nutramix in Warwick. Here he worked closely with the livestock produces throughout NSW and Qld designing feeds and assisting with any nutritional problems they encountered.
After spending two years with Nutramix, Andrew moved north to gain more experience with beef cattle. Taking up a position with Coovin Pastoral Company as a Nutritional Advisor and feed manager, Andrew’s cliental consisted of feedlots and stud bull producers in the central Queensland region.
Whilst working with various livestock producers throughout Queensland and New South Wales, Andrew has been able to gain a wealth of knowledge and understanding the vast difference in nutritional requirement between certain areas.
