More Opportunity for Patronize

Media Release - Thursday August 1

A three-quarter brother to Australia's Champion Sire for 2012/2013 Exceed and Excel, WA based Patronize will be given every chance to succeed at stud after topping the Perth Magic Millions Winter Sale on Sunday.

Premium Bloodstock's Grant Burns bought the young Redoute's Choice stallion on behalf of a syndicate that includes Darling View Stud's Clive Atwell who bought back into the horse, Yarradale Stud owner Ron Sayers and Geisel Park's Eddie Rigg.

A three-quarter brother to champion sire Exceed And Excel, he will continue standing at Darling View in Mundijong where he will be based alongside G1 Caulfield Guineas winner Econsul (Pins).

"The potential is there. All Patronize needs is more opportunities," Burns said. "His oldest are three year-olds and there have been 6 winners and 7 placegetters from just 16 starters."

The new syndicate will ensure Patronize receives more support. "There was a breeders seminar before the Winter Sale and it was agreed we have to start working a lot closer as a group," Burns said. "With that in mind, breeding rights in Patronize may be offered to other breeders and studs in Western Australia.

Patronize was raced in partnership by Kia Ora Stud's Ananda Krishnan after changing hands for $750,000 at the 2004 Inglis Easter yearling sale. He bolted in on debut at Gosford and added another win during his first and only campaign at Newcastle.

Jestpatim opened his account at stud with a four-length victory at Ascot last year. The David Harrison trained youngster was then beaten a head by El Rijes in the LR Perth Stakes.

Jestpatim is a homebred for Atwell and his dam Jestceny (Real Jester) has also foaled Jest Envy Her (Patronize) who won a Northam 2YO maiden in May. Their yearling sister has also been retained by Darling View.

For more information on Patronize, broodmare owners can contact Clive Atwell (0417 964 967), Brent Atwell (0408 648 100) and Grant Burns (0410 683 470).
