Million Dollar Goal for Rubick Filly

Tara Madgwick - Sunday December 1

The colours of astute syndicator Joe O’Neill’s Prime Thoroughbreds were carried to victory in impressive fashion at Moonee Valley on Saturday by progressive Rubick filly Rubisaki, who was having her first run back from a good spell.

Trained by Patrick Payne and ridden by Jye McNeil, Rubisaki settled back in the field and charged to the line to win running away by two and a half lengths over another smart Rubick gelding in Alburq.

Rubisaki showed her quality last preparation when second in a Listed race at Flemington and has the overall record of three wins and two seconds from five starts with prizemoney in excess of $95,000.

"She's always been a smart filly but she's slightly filled out more this time in and Patrick (Payne) and his team have obviously got her going well - that was quite a dominant win today," McNeil said.

"She's a very push-button horse so if you leave her alone early you can point and aim. She's a real honest racehorse.

"She's a beautiful filly that's going to get better with racing and time."

Prime Thoroughbreds manager Joe O'Neill stated that Rubisaki would be aimed at the $1 million Inglis Sprint (1200m) at Warwick Farm on February 8.

"How she gets there is up to Patrick," O'Neill said.

An $85,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Prime Thoroughbreds from the Edinburgh Park draft, Rubisaki was bred by Ian Smith and is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Senro Kisaki, a Sydney metropolitan winner by Danehill Dancer (IRE).

Edinburgh Park will offer a half-brother by Sizzling to Rubisaki as Lot 980 at the Magic Millions 2020 and Senro Kisaki has foaled this spring producing a colt by So You Think.

Rubick has had a great season and is the leading Australian second crop sire by earnings with Everest winner Yes Yes Yes his star performer.
