Oaks Winner Strikes Form at Valley

Tara Madgwick - Friday September 27
Quality High Chaparral (IRE) mare Princess Jenni won the Group I SAJC Australasian Oaks last season at just her sixth start and showed she will be a force this spring when capturing the Group II MVRC Stocks Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

Prepared by David Brideoake and ridden by Damien Oliver, Princess Jenni showed her class at her second run back from a spell when surging home out wide to win the 1600 metre contest by three-quarters of a length going away.

"We're a good combination and we've had a bit of luck together, she's a quality mare," said Oliver.

"I think if we keep her to the mares races in the spring, we'll see a much better horse in the autumn."

A $120,000 Karaka Book One  purchase from the Phoenix Park draft for owner Tony Ottobre, Princess Jenni has won over $640,000 in prizemoney and is the first winner for Glitzabeel, a Zabeel grand-daughter of Group II winner Precious Glitter.

Glitzabeel has a yearling colt by Power (GB) and was covered last spring by Turn Me Loose.
