Impressive debutante for Written Tycoon

Breednet - Wednesday August 23
The equal top priced lot at the Magic Millions second session last year, Written Tycoon colt, Written Choice started his career with a bang at Sandown on Wednesday.

Written Choice as a yearlingAfter showing ability in the trials there was plenty of money for the three year-old, opening at $16 in the betting before consistent money saw him firm into second favourite by start time.

He was never in danger of defeat either from the time the gates opened, showing good natural speed to put him immediately up with the leaders before taking control around the turn and proving a grade above the opposition.

He was tiring on the line, being "still very new" according to rider Regan Bayliss, and he looks a horse certainly capable of progressing to better races.

Trained by Logan McGill, Written Choice is the sixth foal and fourth winner for Redoute's Choice mare Rate The Choice.

He was offered by Woodside Park Stud at session two of the Magic Millions, being knocked down to Mark Riley for $230,000.

Rate The Choice is out of a half-sister to champion three year-old filly Skating from a family that includes Murtajill, Bradbury's Luck, Juste Momente and Golden Slipper winner Vancouver.

She has a two year-old full-sister to Written Choice following, which made $210,000 at this year's Inglis Premier Yearling Sale but has had no luck since with her 2016 foal destroyed and not served last year.
