Career Highlight for Written Tycoon's Tyzone

Mark Smith - Saturday May 18

The Written Tycoon gelding Tyzone has not run a bad race in his 32-start career to date, but at the age of five he may just be in the form of his life.

The Toby Edmonds-trained gelding had bookmakers slashing his odds for the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap following a hugely impressive performance in Saturday's Group III BRC Sprint at Doomben,

Ridden by Blake Shinn. Tyzone stormed home to defeat Violate (Sebring) by one and three-quarter lengths with I'm A Rippa (Love Conquers All) a short half-head back in third.

Owned by Ton Hedley, the Chairman of the Cairns Jockey Club, Tyzone advances his record to 16 wins, 3 seconds and 2 thirds from 31 starts with earnings of $715,625.

"I think it put to bed today anyone's concern about him running the trip," Edmonds told AAP.

"I've got no issue with it. He just needs to be ridden quiet like Blake did, and credit to Blake he got a good bollocking for his ride at Randwick the other day.

"He's very professional, he chased the ride, he was confident and gave him a gun ride."

Purchased for $60,000 at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YOs in Training Sale, Tyzone is the best of three winners from four to race out of the winning Hussonet (USA) mare Rezonet who is a half-sister to the stakes-placed Spirited Eagle (Not a Single Doubt) and a daughter of the Moonee Valley winner Rezidencia (Carnegie) who is a half-sister to Group II winner Society Beau and Listed winner Sandblaster.

Rezonet had a couple of seasons off in 2015 and 2016. She has a weanling filly by Winning Rupert and was covered by Capitalist last year.
