Tara Madgwick - Friday May 19

There are nine mares covered by Frankel to be offered at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale next week and Juddmonte Farm’s champion sire had a promising maiden winner at Geelong on Friday.

Having her second start following a debut sixth at Sandown last November, three year-old filly Frankly Elegant came with a late rush to win the 1400m maiden by the best part of a length.

Ridden by Craig Williams and trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr, Frankly Elegant is a homebred for Chesterfield Thoroughbreds.

is the first foal of the once raced Declaration of War mare Turning Heads (IRE), who was bought by Chesterfield Thoroughbreds for just 4000 guineas from the 2018 Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale.... yes, you read that right, 4000 guineas! See the page here.

Subsequently covered by Frankel to Southern Hemisphere time and sent to Australia, she produced Frankly Elegant, who was entered for Inglis Premier as a yearling but withdrawn and retained to race.

Turning Heads is a daughter of Group III winning Pivotal mare Turning Top from the family of 2016 Champion European Older Horse Postponed.

Turning Heads has gone a little down market since coming to Australia and has a weanling and yearling colt by Tosen Stardom (Jpn) and Alabama Express.
