Platinum Thoroughbreds Adds Three Stallions to Roster

Media Release - Sunday April 30

Platinum Thoroughbreds are pleased to announce three exciting additions to their 2023 roster - sons of Teofilo, Snitzel and Pierro to join the well credentialled Invincible Spirit line horse Scorpz at the Seymour stud.

The dual Gr.1 winner Palentino, the Gr.3 Vain Stakes winner Jukebox and the Gr.3 TL Baillieu Handicap winner Bellevue Hill will all stand at Platinum with the latter two being new to Victoria.

"We are delighted to welcome such a nice group of stallions," said Platinum's Rene Hoefchen.

"We feel that the timing is right to provide a variety of horses to local breeders - stallions who will be priced to give broodmare owners every opportunity to breed themselves a nice runner."

Jukebox
Already proven in his ability to sire a very good horse, the speedy Jukebox won his first three starts - rising through the grades from a Geelong maiden to the Listed Inglis 2Y0 to the Gr.3 Vain Stakes.

A son of the four times Champion Sire Snitzel and the fast stakes winning Rory's Jester mare Jestatune, Jukebox (who is bred on a 4 X 4 cross of Redoute's Choice's dam Dancing Show) did not serve large books in his first few years at stud in Queensland but he has fared well with his first group of winners including the stakes winner Johnny Rocker.

"Jukebox is a powerful horse with a great pedigree," Hoefchen said, "and he looks an ideal VOBIS horse."

Bellevue Hill

A son of the mighty Pierro, Bellevue Hill - whose first crop are about to turn two - is a $400,000 Easter graduate out of an Exceed And Excel full sister to the Gr.3 filly Sugar Babe.

"So many of the biggest wins for the Zabeel line have come in Melbourne and we are sure Bellevue Hill will garner plenty of support," Hoefchen said, noting that the six-year-old showed plenty of ability during his short career.

Competitive with the best of his year's two-year-olds, Bellevue Hill bolted in with his debut in the Black Opal Preview before working hard from a wide gate in the Gr.2 Todman Stakes - so game splitting Yes Yes Yes and Dubious with Bivouac finishing fourth. And he atoned for that defeat by easily winning at Gr.3 level next time out.

Palentino
At ten the oldest of the trio, Palentino is a horse on the up with Hoefchen keeping a close eye on the progress of the striking chestnut's progeny.

"His oldest runners are only four and typical of the Galileo sire line, they are getting better with time... we are confident that the best is still to come for Palentino."

"He has a number of talented young horses doing good things at the moment and we look forward to seeing them fulfil their promise."

Including three new and impressive dominant maiden winners in the past couple of weeks... Ten Commandments, Solar Blast and the debutant Furneaux.

As well as a trio of three-year-olds who are displaying particular talent - the Shane Fliedner Acclimatise and the Jerome Hunter pair Lady Tino and Tino's Daughter.

Easily claiming his maiden at Ballarat at only his second outing, Acclimatise was then close up and rather unlucky in the VOBIS Gold Reef at Moonee Valley.

So impressive winning her only two starts to date, Lady Tino has pace and heart - showing plenty of speed and digging deep when challenged. And her stablemate Tino's Daughter has the same qualities - showing them when saluting at her Cranbourne debut.

"We are excited to see what these horses do in their next campaigns," Hoefchen said, also looking forward to the first progeny of Platinum's foundation stallion Scorpz turning two next season.

"He is throwing promising types with excellent depth of girth, great strides and wonderful natures," he said.

"Scorpz performed well at the elite level over the mile and is from a wonderful local family which has produced high class sprinters and stayers so we think he will prove to be one of those versatile allrounders which broodmare owners love."
