Another One Opens Stakes Account in National Sprint

Mark Smith - Sunday March 12

The 5yo Super One gelding Another One closed in on $1million in earnings when making a successful foray to stakes company in Sunday’s Listed Seears Workwear National Sprint (1400m) at Canberra.

Ridden by Danny Beasley for Gary Colvin, Another One dug deep in the closing stages to defy Handle The Truth (Star Witness) by three-quarters of a length with Cavalier Charles (Denman) a long-head back in third.

Another One has won the bulk of his money with his win in the $500,000 Newhaven Park Country Championship Final at Randwick last April after finishing a half-length second in the same race 12 months previously.

A bargain basement $18,000 purchase by his trainer from the Bowness Stud draft at the 2019 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Another One advances his record to eight wins, three seconds, and four thirds from 32 starts with earnings of $948,320.

Colvin said he was confident he had the 5yo son of Super One ready to go at his first start since last December.

“We had him wound up. We are looking to get him up in distance but I said we can win this race first-up,” Colvin said.

“He was switched on and it was a terrific win.

“I am great mates with the Beasley family so it was great to get Danny on.

“I was going to go for the mile race at Albury Cup time. I may have to look somewhere else now.

“He is just a good horse, so easy to train, I wish all horses were like that.”

Bred by Bowness Stud, Another One is the best of four winners from as many to race from the 67-time winning Hussonet (USA) mare Herewegoagain.

A half-sister to stakes-placed Dysfunction (More Than Ready), Herewegoagain died in 2019 and Another One is her final foal.

Another One is the second stakes-winner for Super One (I Am Invincible), who now stands at Lincoln Farm for a fee of $16,500 after beginning his career at Newgate Farm.
