Wild Ruler Retired to Stud

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday March 2

The Newgate roster for 2022 has an important new addition with news Group I winning sprinter Wild Ruler has been retired after finishing unplaced in the Group I MRC Oakleigh Plate last Saturday.

Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Wild Ruler won the $500,000 Inglis Nursery on debut as a December 2YO and then improved with every preparation winning multiple Group II races at three before earning a Group I victory at four in the Group I MVRC Moir Stakes (1000m).

He retires with six wins and four placings from 15 starts with prizemoney topping $2.6million.

A $525,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Kia Ora Stud draft for China Horse Club / Newgate Bloodstock / WinStar, Wild Ruler has many similarities with Newgate Farm’s current leading first season sire Russian Revolution.

Both horses are by champion sire Snitzel, both were brilliantly fast Group I winning sprinters for the same ownership group and both have impressive North American female pedigrees.
