Stakes Quinella for Reward for Effort

Tara Madgwick - Saturday November 27

The loss of popular Victorian sire Reward for Effort during the past week was highlighted when he provided the quinella in the Listed SAJC City of Marion Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville on Saturday.

The Ryan Balfour trained four year-old Outlaws Revenge fought out the finish with another Reward for Effort gelding in Rock the Ring, the pair going to the line together with just half a head separating them at the post.

A $150,000 Magic Millions Adelaide purchase for his trainer from the Willow Grove Stud draft, Outlaws Revenge has been a great investment with five wins and three placings from 10 starts and prizemoney topping $280,000.

Ryan Balfour was thrilled with the win given the horse was a late scratching when he was recently sent across to Ballarat for the Magic Millions 3 &4yo Classic.

Bred by Ralph Satchell of Willow Grove, Outlaws Revenge is a half-brother to stakes-winner Violet and is the best of four winners from Wings of Alice, a Testa Rossa mare from the family of Group winners including Written Beauty and Immortal Love.

Wings of Alice has foaled this spring producing a filly by I Am Immortal.

RIP Reward for Effort

Outlaws Revenge is the ninth stakes-winner for Reward for Effort, who passed away earlier this week, read about it here.
