Juvenile Trial Watch – Randwick
Tara Madgwick - Monday, 10 July 2017
Six two year-old trials at Randwick on Monday featured the reappearance of a colt that Arrowfield Stud have earmarked for greatness.

PariahArrowfield Stud's flagship sire Redoute's Choice turns 21 this year and while the farm has also achieved outstanding success with his sire sons Snitzel and Not a Single Doubt it would seem you can never have too much of a good thing.

Arrowfield moved to secure a half share in exciting Redoute's Choice colt Pariah (image Steve Hart) at the end of his last campaign and he gave notice of a good spring preparation to come when returning at the trials on Monday morning.

The Peter and Paul Snowden trained colt won the Group III ATC Canonbury Stakes on debut before finishing second to Property in the Group III MRC Blue Diamond Prelude and second to Catchy in the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes.

He failed to handle the heavy 10 conditions when finishing down the track behind She Will Reign in the Golden Slipper and was immediately sent to the paddock.

Reappearing in this 740 metre hit out, Pariah was always under a hard hold by Kerrin McEvoy and surged to the line to score a narrow win in a blanket finish.

It was a nice easy pipe opener for bigger things to come and Pariah will have gone home feeling full of himself tonight!

A $700,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Arrowfield Stud draft for James Harron Bloodstock, Pariah is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to dual Group I winner Melito.

His full brother fetched $2.5 million at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale this year, so Pariah in hindsight would appear to have been very well bought!
