Promising four-year-old gelding Ability made it three wins in as many starts this preparation while winning his first stakes race in Saturday's $150,000 Listed All Victorian Sprint Final (1200m) at Flemington.

The Robert Smerdon-trained son of Reward For Effort advances his record to 6 wins with earnings of $278,250.

Smerdon said, "He's always been a lovely horse but now he is a bigger physical with a bigger brain and he has had a really good preparation."

Consigned to the 2014 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale by Yallambee Stud, Ability was knocked down to Matchem Racing for $150,000.

He is the third foal of the Dubai Destination mare, Paeroa.

Ability becomes the sixth stakes winner for Chatswood Stud's Blue Diamond Stakes winner Reward For Effort (Exceed And Excel) who has had a magnificent season. In the last week alone, the stallion has sired Gold Symphony who won the Listed Civic Stakes at Rosehill, a metro double at Sandown on Wednesday with Pakaya Prince and Murphy's Reward, a Saturday Metropolitan 2YO win at Gawler with Fancy Rumble along with Ability's Stakes victory.
