Baker and Collett dominate at Rosehill ahead of Group I assignment

Tom Walter - Saturday June 17

After combining for a double at Rosehill on Saturday, Bjorn Baker and Jason Collett will reunite next weekend when Bonny O'Reilly lines up in the Group I Tattersalls Tiara (1350m).

Test The World and Sir Plush each gave the trainer and jockey wins in the Pro Rata ATC Membership On Sale Sprint (1200m) and Schweppes Handicap (1100m) while Baker ended the meeting with his first metropolitan treble after Collateral took out the #theraceshandicap (1800m).

"I've won a few trebles out-wide and one at the provincials so it's great to do it in the city, I love racing here at Rosehill and we've got three nice horses so it's going to be hard to replicate," Baker said.

Both of New Zealand heritage, Baker and Collett have proven to be more than just compatriots in Australia with four feature wins over the last 15 months and a 12-month strike rate tracking at more than 28 percent.

Sporting a black eye ironically suffered from a flighty Baker-trained horse at the barrier trials last Tuesday, Collett could be forgiven for thinking the Warwick Farm trainer may have owed him a winner or two on Saturday.

"One of Bjorn's fired its head up at the barrier trials and got me pretty good," Collett said.

"But Bjorn's team is flying at the moment, I've now had five winners for him this month so we're having a good run of form."

Collett is yet to lose on Bonny O'Reilly in three rides and believes a good barrier will give his mount a strong chance of winning the final Group I race for the season, which has been switched from Eagle Farm to Doomben.

"She's really holding her form but probably just had too much work to do the other day from that gate," Collett said of Bonny O'Reilly.

"She's had that 1350m run under her belt now which will stand her in good stead for the Tiara, I'm just hopeful of a decent barrier because in a full field, drawing wide at Doomben would make things tough."

Bonny O'Reilly is a $10 chance in Sportsbet's early Tattersalls Tiara market.
