The most expensive yearling ever sold in France broke his maiden in style on Thursday.
Parabellum, racing in the Godolphin blue and trained by Andre Fabre, had finished second on his previous two starts but relished the extra distance of the Prix Rieur over 2400m at Saint-Cloud and sailed home under Mickael Barzalona to score by eight lengths.
The three-year-old son of Dubawi is the first foal of the Group III Prix de Lutece winner Pacifique, a daughter of Montjeu and a three-quarter sister to Irish Oaks winner Chicquita, and cost €2.6 million at the Arqana August yearling sale in 2015.
Parabellum was not the only expensive offspring of Dubawi to win during the week.
Glorious Journey is also raced by Godolphin and sold for 2.6 million guineas as a yearling at Tattersalls last October.
The Charlie Appleby-trained two-year-old son of Group I Coronation Stakes winner Fallen For You was pushed out to score over six furlongs at Newmarket's July course last Saturday on debut.
"I was delighted the way he has come out of his first race," Appleby told the Godolphin website.
"There was not much pace early, but he was able to quicken.
"I think we should look at stepping him up to seven furlongs, but whether that is at the (Newmarket) July Meeting is another matter. We will see how he progresses,"
Dubawi shuttled to Australia for three seasons from 2006 and left 234 live foals.
The 15-year-old son of Dubai Millennium is now a permanent resident at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket where his fee in 2017 is advertised at £250,000.
