The
most expensive runner in Australia on Monday made a winning debut at Goulburn.
A $775,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Boomer Bloodstock from the Trelawney Stud
draft, three year-old gelding Danzie has need time to grow into his big frame,
but when finally produced in this 1300 metre maiden was able to get the job
done.
Given two recent trials by Bjorn Baker, the last one a win at Randwick on May
19, Daznie went to the races fit and ready to fire.
He stalked the pace and was able to overwhelm the favourite Common Purpose (I
Am Invincible) to win by a short half head with more than six lengths back to
the third horse.
Both horses appear to have a bright future with Common Purpose now having the
frustrating record of four seconds from four starts.
Danzie is a half-brother to Group III winner Serious Satire and is the second
winner for Group II winning Zabeel mare Zarzuela.
