Sold
twice, first at Oaklands in Victoria and then at Karaka in New Zealand, seven year-old
Gun Pit has travelled the world competing successfully in Hong Kong and Dubai and
has come home at last.
Bred by Barnawartha
breeders Tony and Kellie Smeaton in Victoria, Gun Pit has done the right thing
by everybody he's encountered and has been rewarded with the ultimate
retirement dream of returning to the lush paddocks he grew up in.
Sold as a yearling by the Smeaton's for $65,000, the son of Dubawi (IRE) proved
an inspired pinhook for Mark Treweek, who re-sold him at Karaka for $250,000 to
a Hong Kong buyer.
Trained by Caspar Fownes, Gun Pit proved a tough and talented campaigner
winning eight races on the highly competitive circuit and placing in Group I
company in Dubai.
