Sydney trainer Bjorn Baker is giving serious consideration to a Stradbroke Handicap qualifier for his progressive mare Bonny o'reilly.
The in-form daughter of O'Reilly made it two wins from as many start this preparation when scoring a soft victory in open benchmark 85 company at Rosehill last Saturday.
Baker now has his eyes on the remainder of the Queensland winter carnival for Bonny o'reilly but remains undecided on the four-year-old's next assignment.
"There are two possible options for her next week at Eagle Farm," Baker said. "The obvious race is the Juanmo Stakes, the 1200 metre handicap for the fillies and mares but I'm also thinking about the QTC Cup.
"It's an open handicap and the winner gains ballot exemption in both the Stradbroke (Handicap) and the Tattersall's Tiara."
Baker said Bonny o'reilly's form from her last campaign, combined with her two latest runs have been the catalyst for him to give consideration to tackling the boys in the Group II QTC (Moreton) Cup.
"Last preparation Bonny o'reilly got within three-quarters of a length of In Her Time and that mare has gone right on with it since," he said.
"Her run in the Doomben 10,000 was awesome and it gives me the confidence that my mare will measure up to the carnival horses up north.
"I know Bonny o'reilly is a better horse than the one we saw last preparation so I think the time is right to find out how much better."
