Good Weekend for Chatswood Sires

Media Release - Monday May 22
Chatswood Stud's young sire Anacheeva has reached an important milestone, siring his first stakes-winner.

The Stuart Webb trained Ana Royale provided a scintillating performance in the $175,000 Group 3 SA Fillies Classic (2500m) at Morphettville on Saturday.

AnacheevaThe promising 3YO stayer came from third last or "a mile back" as described by the race caller in the sixteen horse field to the widest part of the track, sprinting away from her rivals to win by three lengths with jockey Mark Zahra easing her to the line.

REPLAY

Punters backed Ana Royale into favouritism following her trademark come from behind finish to place third in the Group 1 Australasian Oaks two weeks prior. In another two weeks, Anacheeva's daughter will take her deserved place in the 2017 Queensland Oaks, where she is currently rated a $5-1 chance.

Ana Royale's title as Anacheeva's first Stakes Winner couldn't be more fitting. She is bred/raced by Geoff Guest and Jill Kewish from Rockmount who also raced Anacheeva to Group 1 glory, carrying the same jockey silks.

Anacheeva's progeny are now proving themselves as Stakes prospects over further ground as 3YO's. This comes as no surprise given Anacheeva's victory in the Caulfeild Guineas and his full brother, Headturner winning the Group 1 AJC Derby.

Anacheeva will stand at $6,600 inc GST for the 2017 breeding season.

Jumbo Luck Wins at Sha Tin

Reward For Effort's Hong Kong Sprinter, Jumbo Luck won again in emphatic style on Sunday. With Joao Moreira on board, he crossed easily from barrier 10 to lead and never looked like losing. Moreira barely pressure the punters second-elect, eventually easing Jumbo Luck down on the line to win comfortably by three lengths.

REPLAY

Bred by Eamon Mcnulty, Jumbo Luck was an $85,000 graduate of the Inglis Ready to Run Sale. With only four career stars, the promising son of Reward For Effort has taken his earnings to A$190,000. Chatswood sold the full sister to Jumbo Luck in Session 2 of the 2017 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale for $75,000 to Matthew Williams.
