Melbourne Cup winner Americain has sired his first southern hemisphere winner.
The Stuart Gandy-trained two-year-old Geegee Blackprince claimed the honours when saluting in Sunday's Tasmanian Sires Produce (1400m) at Launceston.
Americain won the 2010 version of Australia's greatest race which also featured local champion So You Think in third.
The son of Dynaformer earned just shy of $6 million on the racetrack and initially commenced stallion duties at Calumet Farm in Kentucky before moving to Swettenham Stud in Victoria.
Americain is one of three Melbourne Cup winners currently standing at stud in Australasia, the other two being Shocking (2009) and Fiorente (2013).
