Another great day for Arrowfield stallions and while headline-hogger Snitzel did make the news with his record-breaking 31st juvenile winner, it was Smart Missile and Not A Single Doubt taking the honours.
Even the grand old man Redoute's Choice chimed in later in the day when his 7yo son Rock Magic earned a sixth stakes win in the Group III Roma Cup at Ascot.
But the day belonged to Smart Missile and Not A Single Doubt with stakes doubles.
We reported earlier on Smart Missile's pair I'll Have A Bit and Exocet at Morphettville, so we turn to Doomben where Not A Single racked up two stakes winners in 40 minutes.
Outside of his home stud, Not A Single Doubt would not have a bigger fan, which has enjoyed as much success, as the Fergusson family's Bell River Thoroughbreds.
The breeders of Blue Diamond Stakes winner Extreme Choice had their name on Not A Single Doubt's 42nd stakes winner when Jim Byrne guided the Robert Heathcote-trained mare Bidii Babe to a long neck win over the favoured Snitzel mare Untamed Diamond in Saturday's Listed Bright Shadow Stakes (1200m).
The Group II Dane Ripper Stakes on June 10 before a possible shot at the Group One Tatts Tiara on June 24. Is on the cards
"She trialled really well for her comeback but just peaked when fourth in the Silk Stocking at the Gold Coast two weeks ago," Heathcote told AAP.
"But she has tightened up since then and in hindsight, I probably should have given her another trial before that run.
"I am really pleased for her owners Neil and Ange Duncan who are my biggest individual owners.
"They deserve to have a black type winning mare like Bidii Babe."
A $150,000 purchase by Paul Willets from the Bell River Thoroughbreds draft at the 2014 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling sale, Bidii Babe (pictured above as a yearling) advances her overall record to 5 wins and 3 thirds from 14
A sister to the stakes-placed Lionize, Bidii Babe is the sixth foal of Arthur's Lass (Unduplicated) a stakes-placed 6-time winner that the Fergusson's purchased for $20,000 at the 2008 Easter Broodmare sale.
The second stakes winner for Not A Single Doubt at Doomben was the high-class filly Kenendra who justified her favouritism in the Group II Magic Millions Roses but not before some concern in the steward's room.
A protest lodged by jockey James Doyle on runner-up Oklahoma Girl (Fastnet Rock) against Kenedna for interference on three occasions in the straight was dismissed by stewards.
"We acknowledge there were three distinct bumps in the straight but we don't believe, considering the margin of a short neck, it warrants a reversal of the result," chief steward Allan Reardon told AAP.
The Darren Weir-trained daughter of Not A Single Doubt was coming off a second to Egg Tart in the Schweppes Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville on May 6.
"There was a little concern there after Adelaide when I thought she peaked on her run 50 yards out, so I wasn't sure about 2000 metres," Weir said.
"I enjoy watching horses second time at the trip to see if they are looking for further and today she suggested that she does want more ground."
"There's not much of her but she's a very relaxed filly and very honest.
"Ideally you'd like to see her settle a bit closer in the run but she's got a really good will-to-win."
Kenedna will have her nest start in the Group I Queensland Oaks where she will meet up again with Egg Tart.
With her fourth stakes victory, Kenedna (pictured as a yearling) advances her record to 6 wins, 2 seconds and 3 thirds from 14 starts with earnings of $505,395.
She was an $80,000 purchase by Darren Weir Racing / John Foote Bloodstock / MDR Bloodstock from the Arrowfield draft at the 2015 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale
Kenedna is a three-quarter sister to Aquis Farm's highly popular young stallion Spill The Beans (Snitzel) who covered 202 mares in his first season last year.
Their dam Miss Dodwell (Falbrav) is a half-sister to Group III winner Yammer and Listed winner Blab the dam of Group I Flight Stakes winner Speak Fondly and Group II Hobartville Stakes winner Wild And Proud.
Miss Dodwell's dam Don't Stop Talking (Ahonoora) is a half-sister to the champion Bounding Away (Biscay) the Horse of the Year in Australia in 1985-86.
Miss Dodwell's yearling filly by Smart Missile was purchased by Cameron Cooke Bloodstock $240,000 at this year's Easter Sale.
She has a weanling filly by Snitzel but missed to that stallion last spring.
