First Stakes Winner for Anacheeva

Mark Smith - Saturday May 20

The Stuart Webb-trained Ana Royale credited Chatswood Stud's Anacheeva with his first stakes winner when successful in Saturday's $175,000 Group III Ubet SA Fillies Classic (2500m) at Morphettville.

Running right up to the form that saw her finish third behind Egg Tart and   Kenedna in a high-class renewal of the Group I Schweppes Oaks at her most recent start,  Ana Royale defeated Parthesia (Raise The Flag) by three lengths with  Smart As You Think (So You Think) a long-neck back in third.

It was just the second win for Ana Royale who broke her maiden at Echuca back in February.

A homebred for Rockmount's Geoff Guest and Jill Kewish, Ana Royale advances her record to 2 wins, 2 seconds and 3 thirds from 11 starts with earnings of $221,620.

Guest and Kewish had purchased Ana Royale's dam Sacha Royale (Fasliyev) as a yearling for $260,000.

She returned $68,120 of that on the track with 3 wins and 3 places from 20 starts.

A granddaughter of Catherine Remond's marvellous mare Twiglet, Sacha Royale is a half-sister to stakes winner Mrs Kipling (Exceed And Excel) out of the unraced Royal Academy mare Dora Maar, herself a half-sister to the Hong Kong champion Fairy King Prawn (Danehill), the Group I Salinger Stakes winner and successful sire Easy Rocking and 3-time stakes winner Crevette the dam of dual Group I winner Cosmic Endeavour.

Sacha Royale has an unraced All Too Hard 2yo colt named Baccarat and a weanling colt by All Too Hard.

A Group I winning son of Anabaa (USA), Anacheeva (pictured ) stands at Chatswood Stud at a fee of $6,600.
