Joe Heather Appointed Sun Stud Queensland Manager

Media Release - Wednesday May 17

Sun Stud is proud to announce the appointment of highly experienced horseman, Joe Heather, as Stud Manager of its Queensland operation.

A Queenslander born and bred, Joe has been involved in the thoroughbred industry throughout his professional career: spending five years at Woodlands Stud, then broodmare manager at Glenlogan Park, was part of the nominations team at Patinack Farm and, for the past four years, manager of a private farm in Queensland.

"I have been involved in every aspect of the industry and had the good fortune to deal with many of Queensland's breeders, both as clients and friends," Joe enthused. "I'm very happy to be joining the team at Sun Stud and it's a great time to be coming on board.

"There are a lot of good horses in Queensland and I can only see the state going from strength to strength in the coming years. So, it's very exciting to have the lineup of stallions that we've got for 2017.

"Bel Esprit is Leading Queensland based sire, Love Conquers All is Leading Queensland Second Season Sire and Instinction is Leading Queensland First Season Sire, while Queensland Guineas winner, Jabali, is about to cover his second book of mares this spring. Last, but certainly not least, Statue of Liberty is new to Queensland in 2017 but is a proven source of stakes winning sprinter/milers, with winners in 18 countries.

"I'm really looking forward to the season ahead and the opportunity to catch up with a lot of breeders at the upcoming National sales on the Gold Coast."

Sun Stud's General Manager of Operations, David Grant, believes Joe Heather is going to be a tremendous addition to the lineup.

"Joe is a true professional and has a great depth of experience over all facets - stallion handling, pedigrees, broodmares, foaling down, rearing, sales … the lot," David points out. "Better still he knows the Queensland industry and is highly respected by the breeders."

Joe Heather can be contacted on 0447 214 814 or jheather@sunstud.com.au
