Impressive Debut for So You Think Juvenile

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday May 16
Kris Lees and Hugh Bowman combined forces at Wyong on Tuesday with an interesting two year-old filly by the great champion So You Think.

An athletic brown filly with an eye-catching blaze, Intrinsic was sent out favourite for the 1100 metre maiden.

Despite jumping awkwardly and racing a touch greenly over the concluding stages, she was able to forge clear and win by three quarters of a length over Pierro filly Aeecee Tong De.

"She's a nice filly and being by So You Think, Kris thought whatever she does today, she'll only get better over further," said Hugh Bowman.

"She wasn't really sure what to do when I asked her to go to the front, so she'll only improve.

"From what she showed me, I think she's more of a sprinter miler, but she will be a very nice horse for the spring."

Retained to race by her breeders, Intrinsic is a full sister to handy winner Too Fast for Love and is the fourth winner from four foals to race from former smart mare Vecchia Roma.

She is pictured here as a foal at Segenhoe Stud in 2014.

Twice placed at Group III level, Vecchia Roma won three good races in town at 1100 and 1200 metres and is by Testa Rossa, so it's not surprising Intrinsic is showing speed.

So You Think has had a great season with his three year-olds who include Group I winners Inference and La Bella Diosa and stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $60,500.
