Three
year-old Canford Cliffs (IRE) gelding Dorset Noble won the Listed East Cape
Derby at Fairview in South Africa on Saturday.
Trained by Candice Bass-Robinson, Dorset Noble was favourite for the 2400 metre
staying test and strolled home to win by more than four lengths.
A $60,000 Inglis Premier purchase for World Wide Bloodstock from the draft of
Erinvale Thoroughbreds, Dorset Noble has two wins and two seconds from just
four starts.
He is one of five winners from stakes-winning Generous (IRE) mare Tingirana,
who won up to 2800 metres and was second in the Group I SAJC South Australian
Oaks.
Dorset Noble is the first Australian bred stakes-winner for five time Group I winner
Canford Cliffs, who shuttled to Blue Gum Farm in Victoria for five seasons, but
is not returning this year.
