Daily Debutant Salutes for Dream Ahead

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday May 10
Featured this morning on Breednet as a Daily Debutant to watch, three year old Dream Ahead (USA) gelding Forever Dream kicked off his career with a stylish victory at Canterbury on Wednesday  and provided a first winner for Richard Freedman.

Forever Dream as a yearlingSent out favourite in the field of four, he stalked the field and rounded them up for Tim Clark to win the 1100 metre maiden running away by a length and three-quarters.

The win was the first for his trainer Richard Freedman, who has set up stables at Hawkesbury with his son William.

"It's like the old days. I got a buzz out of that – it's exciting," Freedman said.

"He's a lovely horse. He's got ability and he showed it here today.

"I'm coming back from a long time out of the game and Leigh (Hagipantelis – owner) had the confidence to leave the horse with me and I'm very grateful for that.

"William is my right-hand man and I've got a good little team of staff. It's a great team effort, as it always is with any horse that you train – it doesn't matter if you train a string of 200 or a string of 12."

Passed in at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Forever Dream is the first foal for Group I ATC Coolmore Classic winner Ofcourseican, who has produced four consecutive foals since retiring to stud for owner/breeder David Bentata and is due to foal to Not a Single Doubt.

Based at Aquis Farm / Emirates Park, Dream Ahead had the quinella in the race with Forever Dream running clear of Dream I Can.

Dream Ahead stands at a fee of $19,800.
