The most expensive sire to stand in Victoria this spring,
Written Tycoon sired talented filly Je Suis Tycoon to win the $70,000 Gold
strike for two year-olds at Warrnambool on Tuesday.
The Henry Dwyer trained filly has had little luck in her first two starts
finishing second in the $250,000 Gold Rush at Bendigo on debut before finishing
a close up seventh in the $300,000 Swear at Spendthrift Sires at Caulfield.
Sent out favourite for this 1000 metre scamper, she covered ground but was
still too good, forging clear to win by two and a half lengths.
"She didn't get any favours today but she's a little ripper," said Henry Dwyer.\
"She was trapped out wide but it was probably best that she was. She's only a little filly and doesn't really appreciate being cluttered up in horses."I thought she was only fair last start at Caulfield in a strong race, especially after such a good run first start at Bendigo."
Dwyer paid $40,000 for Je Suis Tycoon at the Inglis VOBIS Gold Yearling Sale where she was offered by Woodside Park and the daughter of Written Tycoon has now earned in excess of $126,000 with her first win.
"We were not sure how she'd get through the wet track but she seemed to handle it ok and she looks like a nice filly for the future," Dwyer said.
"With the VOBIS money she's now the extras always help, especially for a filly like her so we'll see how she pulls up from this and go from there."
Je Suis Tycoon is the first winner for La Paris, an unraced half-sister by Falvelon to Group I placed stakes-winner Ringa Ringa Rosie from the family of Group I winner Dashing Eagle.
Her sire Written Tycoon stands at a fee of $88,000 this spring at Woodside Park.
