Another Desert Lashes?

Tara Madgwick - Monday May 1
Alice Springs trainer Lisa Lefoe won the $30,000 Inglis Red Centre 2YO Classic at Pioneer Park last year with Desert Lashes, who has gone on to stakes success, and won the race again on Monday with Iron Lotus.

TurffonteinTwo year-old Turffontein filly Iron Lotus bolted clear to win the 1200 metre sprint by nearly four lengths, her second win following a debut second in March.

Iron Lotus was sourced by Inglis from their VOBIS Gold Sale for the annual Red Centre Yearling Sale and was secured for just $5,000 from the Laceby Lodge draft.

Iron Lotus is the first winner for minor winning Bianconi (USA) mare Blazing Glory from the family of Group I winner Special Dane.

She has a way to go to emulate the success of her stablemate Desert Lashes, who is unbeaten with eight wins in as many starts highlighted by a last start victory in the Listed SAJC Redelva Stakes.

Iron Lotus is another handy winner for Turffontein, who stands at Blue Gum Farm at a fee of $8,800.
