Elite Ausbred was born 10th of October 2010 at Fairview Park Stud, Grose Wold New South Wales. He was a handsome colt with a distinctive brand on his near side shoulder; a map of Australia in an 'A' in the middle.
His sire Danewin won 5 Group 1's and over $2 million in prizemoney. His dam Ausbred Blue won five races including two on city tracks. Elite Ausbred was offered as yearling at the 2012 Inglis Classic Sale, but failed to make his reserve. He was retained by his owners with the plan of racing him.

Prior to commencing his racing career disaster struck. Elite injured his back in a paddock accident and it looked like he may never race. After many vet consultations, it was decided that an innovative procedure be used to help repair the damage to his back.
After many months his injury recovered and the pain disappeared...
He went into training with Kris Lees at Newcastle. As a 3 year old he had two race starts; finishing last at Taree and beating one horse home at Muswellbrook. The decision was made to retire him. He was given to a family friend not far from where he was born.
The next part of the story is where it gets exciting…
Donna Burns could see the potential in this horse. She purchased him and took him to Victoria. He was re-named "Rex" and also referred to as "Sexy Rexy" due to his good looks.
With the help of Lynda and Wayne Field he made his first
public appearance at the Dartmoor Show in December 2014.
In 2015 he was being
prepared for the Adelaide Royal Show but suffered a horrific paddock accident.
After a recovery period of five months he returned to the Dartmoor Show where
he won Champion Led Hack, Thoroughbred and Show Hunter Hack. The Rex is back!
