Five
winners in two days has Newgate Farm's Foxwedge in hot pursuit of So You Think
to take over as the Leading Australian Second Crop sire by earnings.
A winning double on Easter Sunday courtesy of Foxteller and Terindah was
followed up on Easter Monday with a winning treble.
I Am The Fox broke his maiden for Paul Perry at Tamworth, while Mulder kept his
unbeaten record intact when reeling off his third successive win at Oakbank for
Michael Hickmott.
Putting the icing on the cake was the John Sargent trained filly Love Me Baby,
who scored an impressive all the way win at her second run back from a spell in
the Benchmark 72 event over 1250 metres beating older rivals.
Super consistent, Love Me Baby has won three races and placed three times from
seven starts earning close to $80,000 in prizemoney.
The Star Thoroughbreds owned and Chris Waller trained Foxwedge filly Noire, was
a good second at Canterbury and her turn to salute will come sooner rather than
later.
With 34 Australian winners and progeny earnings of $2.46 million, Foxwedge is
running hot as we work towards the end of the season with his list of star performers
headed by Group I winning filly Foxplay, who is one of 10 stakes horses sired
by the Group I winning son of Fastnet Rock.
Foxwedge is priced to please at $22,000.
