In a Class of His Own

Tara Madgwick - Thursday March 30
With 57% winners to runners this season, I Am Invincible is in a class of his own in terms of delivering racetrack success for owners and that success is set to reflect in the sale ring at Newmarket next week at the 2017 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Yarraman Park's flagship sire has soared to new heights in the past 12 months and particularly since the start of the year.

I Am InvincibleHis eight stakes-winners this season are headed by Group I winner I Am a Star, an acceptor for the Group I ATC Doncaster Handicap and Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Houtzen, not to mention Group I placed, stakes-winners Voodoo Lad, Hellbent and Invincible Gem.

"He's getting runners in the big races and they are running well," said Harry Mitchell.

"Voodoo Lad was second in the Newmarket, Hellbent was fourth in the Oakleigh Plate and second in the William Reid and Invincible Gem was outstanding when second against the colts in the Randwick Guineas.

"These are serious horses for serious races."

I Am Invincible has the astonishing seasonal winner to runner strike rate of 57%, no other stallion comes close, and has four runners on the opening day of The Championships at Randwick this Saturday including Group I contenders I Am a Star and Voodoo Lad.

HinchinbrookI Am Invincible topped the 2017 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale with a colt from Soorena fetching $1.4 million and there is every indication more million dollar yearlings will follow next week for him at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Yarraman Park will offer a quality draft of 13 youngsters at Inglis Easter including three by I Am Invincible and four by the farm's other top stallion Hinchinbrook, who has had five stakes-winners this season including Diamond Tathagata and Derryn, who will both contest Group I events at Randwick this Saturday.

"Hinchinbrook has four runners on Saturday with his stakes-winning fillies Flying Jess and Manaya accepting for Group races," said Mitchell, also pointing out that I Am Invincible and Hinchinbrook both had multiple stakes-winners at the Flemington Spring Carnival.

"You can't win the races on the big days unless you are in them."

Draft highlights include:

Lot 27 Filly Hinchinbrook x Al's Magic Miss, by Magic Albert

Full sister to the colt that made $1million at this sale last year and is the third foal of stakes-placed Al's Magic Miss. This filly is also a three-quarter sister-in-blood to the promising Peter and Paul Snowden trained Hinchinbrook two year-old Coulthard.

Lot 69 Filly I Am Invincible x Camporella, by Exceed and Excel

Lot 85 Filly Shamus Award x Courgette, by Charge Forward
