Domesday Poised for More Group Success

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday March 28

Aquis Farm's Domesday has hit a purple patch with three new Group horses flying his flag as we head into the 2017 breeding season.

Oregon's Day - Grant CourtneyDomesday featured on Friday night at Moonee Valley with Group III winner Oregon's Day and may well soon have another Group winner on his resume with highly talented young mare Daysee Doom confirming her potential with a head second in the Group II ATC Emancipation Stakes at Randwick last Saturday.

The Ron Quinton trained four year-old looked good last year when winning five of seven starts in restricted grades and has more than held her own this year when stepped up into better company.

Daysee Doom was third when resuming from a spell in the Group II ATC Millie Fox on February 18 and then finished an outstanding fourth in the Group I ATC Coolmore Classic beaten a little over a length behind Heaven's Above and Silent Sedition, who won the Group I MVRC William Reid Stakes last Friday.

Daysee DoomSent out favourite for the Group II ATC Emancipation Stakes (1500m), Daysee Doom (image Steve Hart)  missed by a head in the very heavy ground, but her recent form would suggest a big win is in store sooner rather than later.

The Group I ATC Coolmore Legacy (1600m) (formerly the Queen of the Turf) for fillies and mares at Randwick on the second day of The Championships looks the obvious target.

Retained to race by her breeders, Daysee Doom is the only living foal from her stakes-placed dam See a Victory.

Lightly raced for a four year-old with five wins from 10 starts and prizemoney nearing $280,000, Daysee Doom looks to have an outstanding future.

Ciaron Maher has paid up for his talented Domesday three year-old Ruthven to run in this weekend's $2million Group I ATC Australian Derby at Randwick.

A lightly raced colt with two wins and three seconds from just six starts, Ruthven comes into the Blue Riband off a last start second in the Group II MVRC Alister Clark Stakes over 2040 metres.

An eye-catching near black colt, Ruthven is from a daughter of the mighty Octagonal, who won the AJC Australian Derby in 1996.
