Another Singapore NZB Ready to Run Star

Media Release - Monday March 27

Unbeaten Ready to Run Sale graduate Countofmontecristo  (NZ) (Echoes Of Heaven) added to his growing reputation when he boosted his race record to four out of four in Sunday's S$250,000 Sgp-3 Singapore Three-Year-Old Sprint (1200m).

After scoring impressive front-running victories in his first three starts in lower grades, Countofmontecristo stepped up in class for Sunday's race, the first leg of the Singapore Three-Year-Old Challenge. He over-raced in the early part of the race and had to work hard to make the lead, but he was still able to sprint again in the home straight and kick clear to score by three-quarters of a length. He was ridden to victory by Glen Boss, who has previously described the three-year-old as "a beast".

Offered by Kiltannon Stables at the 2015 Ready to Run Sale, Countofmontecristo was purchased by Brendon McCullum's Vermair Racing for $57,500.

Trained by Michael Clements, Countofmontecristo has won more than S$250,000 in prizemoney for his owner Joe Giovanni Sarjeet Singh.

Countofmontecristo was bred by Heather, Peter and Tom Crofskey. The Crofskeys have bred and raced a number of high-class horses over the years, including the 2013 New Zealand Derby winner Habibi (NZ) (Ekraar).

"So, so proud to have bred him," Heather Crofskey tweeted last night. "Congratulations to Michael Clements and team, and Mr Giovanni. Co-breeders husband Peter and his brother Tom mighty happy tonight. The Count is awesome."

Countofmontecristo is by Linwood Park stallion Echoes Of Heaven and is his first stakes winner.
