Group Double for Double Danehill

Tara Madgwick - Monday March 27
Two more new Group winners last weekend carrying the double cross of Danehill (USA) will give vendors selling the many horses bred this way something positive to offer potential buyers next week.

The MissionScoring a surprise all the way in the Group III ATC The Schweppervescence (1400m) at Rosehill was two year-old colt The Mission, who is by Choisir from a daughter of Redoute's Choice, so has the double cross in the 3 x 3 pattern.

The Paul Perry stable is leaning towards backing The Mission (pictured Steve Hart) up in the Group I ATC Sires Produce Stakes this weekend and if he happens to win, he won't be the first double Danehill to do so as that would be Guelph (2 x 3), who won in 2013.

Winning his first stakes race in South Africa on Saturday was Australian bred four year-old Teofilo (IRE) entire Brazuca, who won the Group II Colorado King Stakes (2000m).

He has the double up in a 3 x 4 pattern as Teofilo is from a daughter of Danehill and Brazuca is from a daughter of Choisir.

There are now 56 stakes-winners worldwide carrying the double cross and interestingly they include a number of Australian juvenile stakes-winners this season – The Mission, Gunnison, Single Bullet, Ducimus, Pateena Arena and Seannie.
