All Roads Lead to Rockhampton – 2017 Capricornia Sale

Tara Madgwick - Friday March 24
The 2017 Capricornia Yearling Sale will be held in Rockhampton, Central Queensland, on Sunday 2nd April providing a great opportunity to purchase affordable yearlings eligible for a wide range of bonuses and incentive races.

There are 95 yearlings on offer this year with 82 QTIS eligible horses and 16 BOBS yearlings. Magic Millions are the sale agents and all of the buyer facilities are available including telephone bids.

This year Racing Queensland announced a new initiative of a $250,000 QTIS Jewel 2YO Race restricted to QTIS eligible horses in March 2018.

It offers buyers of this year's crop of yearlings a great opportunity to race for some decent prizemoney before the start of the Queensland Winter Carnival.

HinchinbrookOf the 16 BOBS yearlings on offer this year eight are dual eligible for both BOBS and QTIS, doubling the opportunity to participate in two of the leading breeding schemes in Australia on offer today.

Aquis Farm have announced a very generous incentive for buyers of their yearlings from this sale, click here to see their draft which features five yearlings by Hinchinbrook, Excelebration (IRE), Street Boss (USA), Road to Rock and Declaration of War (USA).

If you buy one of their quality yearlings, and it wins the 2018 Capricornia Yearling Sale 2YO Classic, you will be eligible for a $100,000 bonus. That will give you a total prize pool of $164,000 if you also race the yearling!

Of course one of the major incentives to buy a yearling from this sale is the exclusive sale race series.

The total value of the three races available for sale graduates only is now $200,000. The 2018 CYS 2YO Classic is worth $100,000 and the 2019 and 2020 3&4 YO Classics are worth $50,000 each. QTIS bonuses also apply to eligible horses.

Yearlings certainly sell for some genuine bargain prices at our sale. With an average price of $10, 000 it is a sale that caters for all budgets. We also have some star graduates including River Lad who was passed in at only $4,000, yet went on to win the Group I BRC Stradbroke Handicap along with almost $1.8 million in prizemoney.

Cash Dash The bargain tradition continues with our sale topper at $50,000 from 2015. This stand out colt by Dash For Cash raced as Cash Dash and after a bit of a scratchy start he came back as a 2YO in his second campaign and blew his opposition away in two authoritative wins at Eagle farm and the Sunshine Coast. He was then sold to overseas interests for $500,000!

This year's catalogue is our best to date in recent years. We have some very strong dam pedigree lines like the Group II VRC Manifold Stakes winning Coupe, the dam of the Lot 42 filly by Eurozone and the Group II winning Flying Spur mare Trevezant, the dam of the lot 16 Congrats (USA) colt.

The Aquis Farm consigned Lot 41, an Excelebration (IRE) colt from Corkage, has a pedigree page full of Group and Listed winners including St Reims and Champagne.

Love Conquers AllLocal vendors Laurel Glen Equine also have a strong selection as usual, click here to read more.

We offer First Season Sires Albrecht, Declaration Of War, Northern Meteor, Eurozone, Mahisara, One Lickety Split and Spirit Of Boom.

The popular Queensland sires are well represented including Love Conquers All, Rothesay Sidereus and Top Echelon.

Other sought after sires include: Manhattan Rain, the sire of Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign, Al Maher, Carrara, Casino Prince, Hinchinbrook, Instinction, Mossman, Nicconi, Poets Voice, Street Boss, Toorak Toff, Wicked Style and Your Song.
