International Group One Stars Shuttle to Darley

Media Release - Tuesday March 21

Darley have announced two new shuttlers for Australia this year in stunning grey Tapit son Frosted and Invincible Spirit's brilliant son Territories.

Three-time G1 winner Frosted, the highest-rated son of Champion American stallion Tapit, will join the Darley stallion roster at Northwood Park this year, while G1 Prix Jean Prat winner Territories, who hails from the family of Champion stallion Street Cry, will shuttle to Kelvinside.

Racing in the Godolphin blue, Frosted recorded arguably the most impressive win on an American racetrack last year when he claimed the coveted G1 Metropolitan Handicap (1600m) at Belmont Park by an astounding 14 and a quarter lengths in a Stakes record time of 1:32.73.

On his following start, he claimed the G1 Whitney Handicap, a race previously won by leading international sire and fellow Darley stallion Medaglia d'Oro.

Frosted had already enjoyed G1 success at three, emulating his sire Tapit when winning the G1 Wood Memorial, and also landed the G2 Pennsylvania Derby before finding only American Pharoah too good in the G1 Belmont Stakes.

Territories established himself among the top echelon of European milers at three with a fast-finishing second in the G1 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket. He followed this with a dominant win in the G1 Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly on his next start, taking the race in the second-fastest time ever recorded. Territories was also a high-class juvenile, finishing second in the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere.

Territories is by noted sire of sires Invincible Spirit, rated equal to his Champion juvenile Shalaa and higher than his G1 sire sons I Am Invincible and Lawman.

Alastair Pulford, Head of Sales for Darley stallions in Australia said, "Frosted and Territories were elite racehorses and we are thrilled to have them join our roster here in Australia. Frosted's G1 wins came in races won by some of the greats. The names you see in pedigrees. He is the best son of a Champion sire and from a top female line. He is a top-class prospect for Victorians.

"Territories is by the sire of I Am Invincible and from the same female family as Darley's amazing servants Street Cry and Shamardal so there is no doubt he has the credentials to be a success at stud. He is exactly what our market will love.

"Andy Makiv and I went and inspected Frosted and Territories earlier this month and were taken by both horses. I have no doubt our clients will be very impressed by them when they see them."

Fees for Frosted and Territories will be announced at a later date.
