Sale-Topper Salutes

Tara Madgwick - Monday March 13
The top priced weanling at the 2014 Magic Millions National Sale, Lonhro filly Artemis Rose opened her account with a stylish win at Hawkesbury on Monday.

Artemis Rose sets the sale ring alightTrained by Team Hawkes for Mrs Belinda Bateman, Artemis Rose was sent out a short priced favourite for the 1000 metre maiden at her first run back from a spell.

Second at her only previous outing last November behind subsequent Group III winner and Group I ATC Randwick Guineas runner-up Invincible Gem, Artemis Rose ran right up to that good form.

She jumped well for Blake Shinn, then took a sit behind the leaders before lengthening stride to the line to win by a length in a brisk 56.15 seconds.

A $710,000 Magic Millions National Weanling purchase from the Segenhoe Stud draft for James Harron Bloodstock, Artemis Rose will no doubt chase Black Type in coming weeks and is entered for the Group II Arrowfield Sprint at The Championships.

A half-sister to stakes-winner Regrowth and to the dam of Golden Slipper winner Forensics, Artemis Rose is the tenth winner from ten foals to race from stakes-winner True Blonde, a half-sister to Group I winning sire Snippets.

Rising 22, True Blonde produced a filly by Deep Field last spring and was subsequently covered by Dissident.
