Australian
bred four year-olds Rafeef and New Predator fought out the finish of the Group
II Hawaii Stakes at Turffontein in South Africa on Saturday.
The Mike de Kock trained Redoute's Choice stallion Rafeef prevailed to win the
1400 metre contest by a long neck over New Predator (New Approach (IRE), taking
his overall record to five wins from eight starts.
Stakes placed previously, it was the first Black Type win for Rafeef, who is
the 140th stakes winner for his champion sire.
An $800,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Shadwell from the Arrowfield draft,
Rafeef is the best of two winners from Joint South African Horse of the Year
2005/2006 and triple Group I winner National Colour (Sth Afr).
Arrowfield Stud will offer the current yearling from National Colour, a filly
by Snitzel, at the 2017 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale as Lot 256.
