Burdened with 63 kg, the Toby Edmonds trained daughter of I Am Invincible made it look all too easy as she jumped straight to the front and cruised along in the lead for Jeff Lloyd.
Given rein in the straight she forged clear to win the 1000 metre scamper by four lengths as a hot favourite and will come to Sydney in peak condition for her next assignment the Group I ATC Golden Slipper on March 18.
Edmonds had Houtzen (pictured Steve Hart) entered for the Group II ATC Reisling Stakes won by Frolic and the Group III Black Opal Stakes on Sunday, but elected to take the easier option, albeit carrying a weight that had not been carried to victory in Brisbane since 1972.
"She had to beat them like that today to be competitive in two weeks time and she's done it," Edmonds said.
A $105,000 Magic Millions purchase for her trainer from the Yarraman Park draft, Houtzen was bred by the late Noel Leckie and has won four from four earning $1.3 million in prizemoney.
She is the first winner from Reset mare
Set to Unleash, whose dam is a half-sister to globe-trotting Champion 3YO Filly
Sun Classique.
Houtzen is one of 10 juvenile winners this season for I Am Invincible, who is running second to Snitzel on the Australian 2YO Sires List and had his first million dollar yearling earlier this week when his $1.4 million colt from Soorena topped the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
