Lohnro
produced a promising two year-old winner in South Africa on Thursday with
Alfolk making an impressive debut.
Starting a short-priced favourite for the Mike De Kock stable, Alfolk had two
lengths to spare on the line in the juvenile maiden at Vaal.
Out of Alteza Real, he was purchased by Shadwell Australia for $380,000 at the
Inglis Easter Sale from the draft of Sledmere Stud.
He is the second winner from three to race for Alteza Real (by Exceed And Excel),
a three-quarter sister to stakeswinners Shinzig and Strada, and stakesplaced
Fiammarosa, being out of former top flight racemare Shindig.
The dam hasn't had much luck since foaling Alfolk with her Zoustar foal born
dead in 2015 and missing to Deep Field subsequently.
She was served by Vancouver last season.
