The
Coolmore navy blue colours were carried to victory at Sandown on Wednesday by
promising three year-old Snitzel colt Bastille, a $775,000 Magic Millions
purchase from the Berkeley Park draft for Tom Magnier/John Warren Bloodstock/China
Horse Club.
Prepared by the Hayes/ Dabernig training partnership, Bastille bolted in to win
on debut at Benalla on February 12 by more than five lengths and was favourite
for this 1200 metre assignment in town.
He travelled up on the pace for Clint Johnston-Porter and sped away to win by two
and three-quarter lengths in a dominant display.
"It was a good win and we'll look to get him out over a bit more distance,"
said co-trainer Ben Hayes.
"We'd like to get him to Sydney for some of the nice three year-old races."
Bastille is the fourth winner from four foals to race winners from Starlevie, a
half-sister by Fasliyev (USA) to stakes-placed Palace Glow, the dam of Group III Red Colossus and
Nediym's Glow.
