At
this time of year with Autumn Classics around the corner any well related three
year-old maiden winners by High Chaparral (IRE) are always worth a second look.
Prepared by Jim Conlan, three year-old colt Big John Cannon was Group III
placed behind Archives at his second start during the spring and was spelled
immediately after.
Having his third run back from a spell in the 1400 metre maiden, Big John
Cannon found the line well for Dwayne Dunn to score a short head win in a
competitive finish.
A $190,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Newhaven Park draft, Big John Cannon is the second winner for Kurylenko, an Exceed and Excel
daughter of Group I winner Miss Pennymoney from the family of Golden Slipper
winners Capitalist and Merlene.
Group I VRC Oaks winner Dear Demi also appears on the page, so Big John Cannon does
not lack for pedigree and holds an entry for the Group I ATC Australian Derby
in April.
Newhaven Park will offer another top class draft of 17 youngsters for the 2017
