The
powerful Darren Weir stable produced a couple of super interesting impressive
maiden winners at Warrnambool on Thursday with runaway wins for So You Think
colt Think Babe and Bloodlette, the half-sister to dual Group I winner
Platelet.
Having his second start in the 1300 metre maiden following a second on debut at
Werribee last month, Think Babe made a mess of the opposition when striding
clear to win by eight lengths as a hot favourite.
Bred and retained to race by Darren and Liz Dance and partners, Think Babe is
the first winner for minor winning Savabeel mare Savababe, a daughter of
stakes-winner Thursday's Child.
He continues a great winning run for So You Think and is one of ten winners
this monthfor the former champion racehorse including dual stakes-winner
Northwest Passage.
Carrying the same Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock yellow colours to win two races later
was three year-old Authorized (IRE) filly Bloodlette, a half-sister to former
brilliant speedster Platelet, who won the Group I SAJC Roberts Sangster Classic
and Goodwood Handicap for the Weir stable in 2013.
While speed might have been the biggest asset for Platelet, stamina is clearly
the forte of Bloodlette, who relished the 2000 metre maiden to win running away
by five lengths.
It was her first win in six starts following two recent placings and maturity
will no doubt bring out her best.
Bloodlette is the sixth winner from six foals to race from Dracula mare
Bloodline, who comes from the family of Group II winner Hockney.
