A former brilliant two year-old by Northern Meteor, that won his only two starts for Gai Waterhouse before going amiss, Fighting Sun had just five entries for this sale with four of them selling at an average $92,500.
That's a fine return off a $13,750 service fee making him the second most profitable sire at this sale by multiple of fee behind only Written Tycoon.
His top seller was a colt bred by Bob Hannon and offered by Middlebrook Valley Lodge that made $165,000 when snapped up by Anthony Freedman / Waterford Bloodstock.
The handsome bay is a half-brother to Group II placed Inglis Classic winner Twist Tops being from Imtops, who interestingly comes from the same female family as Fighting Sun.
Fighting Sun had three yearlings average $110,000 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale last month, so these results are certainly encouraging heading towards the 2017 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale where 19 of his progeny will be offered. Click here to see them.
Arrowfield Stud's Dundeel again proved popular with seven yearlings averaging $83,214 with Coolmore's Declaration of War (USA) next with seven yearlings averaging $66,571.
Darley's Epaulette had the single best result of any first season sire at the sale with a filly from Pozitave fetching $170,000 for Rheinwood Pastoral.
She was bought by Prime Thoroughbreds, who have enjoyed plenty of success with this filly's close relation Flying Jess, winner of the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas.
Epaulette had the most yearlings sold with 24 averaging $65,438, while Newgate Farm's Sizzling was not far behind with 18 averaging $62,583.
