Classy mare Pearls was unable to be saved after being involved in a fall at Randwick on Monday.

Pearls came down near the 800 metre mark in the Group III Triscay Stakes (1200m) and was taken to the Randwick Equine Centre for assessment.

Godolphin issued a statement on Tuesday morning stating that "due to the multiple shoulder fractures she sustained in the fall she was inoperable" and had to be euthanised.

During her career Pearls won three of her 15 starts, claiming the Group II Tea Rose Stakes and Group III Toy Show Stakes. She was also stakes placed on three occasions.

The daughter of Exceed And Excel was one of Godolphin most-valuable mares being a sister to Group I winner Helmet and three-quarter sister to multiple Group I winner Epaulette.

Pearls dam Accessories had a sister to the ill-fated mare in September last year while Godolphin also have a two-year-old daughter by Lonhro in training called Maquilla.
